Unlike mainstream churches, the Church of God worships on Saturdays, does not erect the cross, and does not celebrate Christmas, but instead keeps the New Covenant Passover. Furthermore, instead of Thanksgiving, they celebrate the seven feasts in three times, which includes the Passover. Also, while female congregants in mainstream churches do not wear veils during worship, female congregants in the Church of God do wear veils.
▶ Why are mainstream churches and the Church of God so different, even though both claim to believe in God?
According to the Bible, heresy refers to speaking with fabricated words—that is, words that do not exist in the Bible.
In other words, the standard for heresy is not based on the opinion of the majority, but must be the Bible, which is the standard of faith.
No matter how much the mainstream churches, attended by countless people in the world, insist that they have the truth, they practice things not found in the Bible and are not recognized by God; therefore, they cannot help but be heresy.
However, because the Church of God practices according to the words and teachings of the Bible, it is the true church of truth recognized by God.
2 Peter 2:1~3
- But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
- Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
- In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
